News and Accomplishments

  • Check out the "In the News" tab for all news related to the Baldwin Promise and College Access Center. Featured is a special report titled "Promising Future" which aired on 9&10 News.  
  • On May 1st, 16 graduating seniors announced their decisions after graduating from Baldwin High School. In Baldwin's first-ever Decision Day celebration.  
  • The Baldwin Promise Authority has been awarded a one-time grant from the University of Michigan-School of Education. The $63,230 grant will be instrumental in the operation of the College Access Center as well as programming and initiatives the College Access Center provide to students and the community.  
  • The Baldwin Promise Authority and College Access Center with the collaboration of Lake County Community Foundation has been awarded a challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation through the Council of Michigan Foundations. The challenge grant helped in creating a $50,000 endowment for college readiness and college knowledge programming and initiatives.  
  • The Baldwin Promise Authority has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Michigan College Access Network to focus on College Success of Promise scholarship recipients. This grant will bring together the Baldwin Promise Zone, the Baldwin College Access Network, Baldwin Community Schools and higher education institutions, West Shore Community College and Ferris State University in hopes of developing a plan of action for success in support of students who are already pursuing and will be pursuing higher education credentials in the future.  
  • The Baldwin College Access Center will be sponsoring the 2013 Southeastern Michigan College Tour once again for students attending Baldwin Senior High School. This year's opportunity will be funded by a grant from the University of Michigan-School of Education. The tour is opened to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students will visit the University of Michigan, Oakland Community College, Schoolcraft College, Michigan State University, Washtenaw Community College, Oakland University, University of Michigan-Dearborn, Wayne State University, and Eastern Michigan University. 
  • Scholarship News! Besides the Baldwin Promise, students have been awarded additional aid to help with college costs. As of February 7, 2013, students have been awarded a total of $76,000 in scholarships from various high education institutions and organizations and of this total $75,000 is renewable.
